Australia’s next governor-general will be an old white man from the military.
The current Governor-General, Sir Peter Cosgrove, also an old white man from the military, will retire when his five-year term ends in March next year.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison informed Labor a full sixty minutes before naming David Hurley to the position.
“I thought it was important that we gave Labor plenty of time to think over the appointment,” Morrison told reporters.
“Hurley is a great reflection of our values; old, white, and from a national security background.”
The new Governor-General, will most likely serve in a Labor government for the next six years.
