The Australian government has announced there is “no way to prevent” catastrophic bushfires while half the country is on fire.
“We’re all out of options after doing nothing,” Prime Minister Scott Morrison told ABC TV’s David Speers.
“No one could have predicted this,” said Morrison, who missed the 2008 Garnaut Climate Change Review that stated, “fire seasons will start earlier, end slightly later, and generally be more intense… This effect increases over time, but should be directly observable by 2020.”
Morrison is waiting for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ to solve the problem, according to government officials.
“I know, how about we ban forests?” Morrison told Speers.
The government is currently using “carry-over” carbon credits from previous years to avoid significant reductions in emissions.
