The IT guy at a medium-sized company today has told a staff member to turn her computer off and then turn her computer back on again before he would be looking into the issue any further.

“Okay, now listen very carefully,” said IT guy.

“I’m gonna have to get you to switch your computer off, and then back on again.”

“Can you do that for me?”

Turning the computer off and on solved all information technology problems known to 39-year-old Sara Grant from accounts.

“I can’t believe I didn’t think of that,” said Grant.

The IT guy has successfully implemented the off and on troubleshooting strategy for 95 per cent of all inquiries in the current financial year.
