Liberal Leader Matthew Guy said a Liberal Nationals Government would cut the current payroll tax rate of 2.425 per cent for qualifying businesses in regional Victoria to just 1 per cent so they don’t have to decide “what the hell to do with the other 1.425 per cent”.
“It’s also a nice little sweetener,” Guy told reporters.
“Only the Liberal Nationals have a plan to do nothing and leave it to business,” he said.
In a speech to hundreds of supporters, Guy focused on cracking down on cutting taxes and African gangs.
“If you watch enough Current Affair, you would be scared of African gangs too.”
“I know I’m petrified.”
He pledged mandatory minimum jail sentences as well as a tougher bail and parole system.
“We will put the force back into police force,” Guy said.
“Our solution to crime is locking people up for longer – just look how that has worked over the last two centuries.”
