Several children trapped inside a dark hole on Nauru well away from the prying eyes of the Australian public “can stay there”, according to Australian officials.

Immigration Minister Peter Dutton says children “trying to find adventure in a cave” are very different from parents “trying to find a life for their kids”.

“They’ve been stuck in a dark abyss on Nauru for 1,829 days, but thankfully no one knows the details because we’ve banned the media from entering this hell hole,” says Dutton.

“So they can stay there – these kids in Thailand are not our responsibility, so we’ve sent all the help we can.”

The Australian government says they have rescued children from Nauru, but only the ones that have attempted to kill themselves.
