A Senate inquiry has found Australia’s Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton misled parliament regarding smuggling people into the country for rich people.
“Peter Dutton played a key role as people smuggler for wealthy families,” the Senate inquiry found.
But Prime Minister Scott Morrison is standing by Mr Dutton saying the problem is “the Labor Party”.
Mr Morrison said that while Labor was “about stopping rich people from having clean houses” his government was about “stopping desperate people seeking a normal life”.
“I’m sure these au pairs can go to Nauru and read children bedtime stories if that’s what Labor wants,” Morrison told reporters.
